The DIEGO M brand has been known and loved in Russia for many years. The Italian brand feels the tastes of Russian women, offering “the very” outerwear – high-quality and stylish at the same time. Manuela Bortolameolli and Diego Mazzi have been running the company for almost 20 years, but they don’t feel burned out or lack of inspiration. How to love your job and have time to live a full life – Manuela told in an interview.

The DIEGO M brand is almost 20 years old. What is the main secret of your successful business?

Indeed, in 2023 the DIEGO M brand will turn 20 years old. The secret of our success with Diego is a signature family cocktail: a mix of creativity and talented business management. In the company, I deal with commercial issues, marketing and public relations, so I act as the official face of the brand, and my husband Diego is not only a creative person, designer and ideological inspirer, but also a successful businessman. We certainly complement each other and help to fulfill oneself. The recipe for success also includes our love, complete trust, mutual respect and, of course, 100% involvement in the common cause.

How do you and Diego find a balance between creativity and the commercial side of the business?

Two enthusiastic people, devoted to their work, as if they are halves of a single creative project, is a real success, a doubled power of talent. Undoubtedly, fashion has always been a part of Diego’s life, and with his aesthetic vision, he rethinks the concept of outerwear every season, creating luxurious models. I am responsible for working with clients, promoting the company, I travel a lot, imbued with the culture and traditions of countries, communicating with people. And then I broadcast my impressions to Diego, inspiring him to new ideas.

Tell us about your children, which path did they choose?

My daughter Marta is a determined, talented girl, her great and sincere passion is cinema. This is not an easy task, and as a mother, I respect her choice. My main task is to support her in achieving her goal. And sons Matteo and Andrea work with us in the company. Each of them solves different problems, based on their talents and preferences.

How do you think fashion has changed in recent years?

The DIEGO M brand has long been associated with high quality clothing. Our models are “total look outerwear” for both women and men. The main place in the collections is occupied by down jackets, the brand also offers a wide range of coats, eco-fur coats, natural sheepskin coats. In recent years, the fashion industry has been paying more and more attention to sustainable development. Undoubted trends are quality and recognition, as well as modern design. DIEGO M always keeps up with the times, strives to rethink the collections, following the latest fashion trends.

The brand is represented in many countries, what is the specificity of the Russian market?

Over the years of doing business, I have come to Russia a lot and often. And I am happy that I had the opportunity to get to know your country, culture and traditions better. The Russian market is the most important for us, we pay special attention to it. I love Russia and Russian clients very much. Taking into account the peculiarities of the climate, they are always extremely demanding and attentive when choosing outerwear. That is why, when creating new collections, we carefully approach both the design of models and the choice of materials. And this is bearing fruit – in Russia, our brand is really popular. I am very happy about it.

Do you have favorites from the new collection?

It is difficult for me to answer this question, because there are many models in the new collection that I really like. Among them is a long luxurious cashmere coat. It will be so nice to return to snowy Moscow in December. Looking forward to this! Well, for an evening with friends, I will choose a funny colored eco-fur coat. The main accents of this model are cyclamen color and stylish texture. And of course, there is also a long down jacket with a hood – I am cold, I will definitely be warm and comfortable in it.

Tell us about your plans for DIEGO M.

The next step is to invest in the promotion of the men’s collection. We see great potential in this part of the market. I’m sure we have something to offer our clients. We also focus on innovative solutions and improvement of production technologies, development in the spirit of environmental friendliness, conscious consumption, because the prefix “eco” for us is by no means an empty phrase.
