King Felipe VI of Spain wore white jeans he has owned for more than 20 years to a private family dinner in Portixol, Mallorca, on Saturday night.
The dinner, held at the restaurant Mia, brought together the Spanish royal family for what has become a Mallorca tradition. Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor, Queen Sofia and the Queen Emerita also attended, each drawing attention for their outfits, but Felipe VI stood out with a classic look that carried a youthful twist.
Relaxed jeans replace formal trousers
Felipe VI typically favors pleated trousers, which he wore during a reception at the Marivent Palace the previous Tuesday. For Saturday's dinner, he swapped them for straight-cut white jeans, giving his look a far more casual and relaxed feel outside official royal engagements.
The style has a loose, straight cut with a relaxed drape, closer to designs from the 1990s than the fitted, skinny cuts that became popular from the 2000s onward.
A wardrobe staple for two decades
The king has kept the white jeans as a staple of his wardrobe for more than 20 years, favoring them especially for his holiday wardrobe in Mallorca, where he tends to dress in relaxed, neutral tones. He has never switched to the skinny-fit styles that became common after the 2000s, sticking instead with the straight-leg cut throughout.

Felipe VI paired the white jeans with classic brown suede loafers, a comfortable and versatile shoe he brought along for the trip to Mallorca that works with any look on the Balearic island. He also wore the official Hispania polo shirt in Klein blue, one of the season's most popular colors, in a slightly fitted, short-sleeved silhouette.
