Director Guy Ritchie attended the season two premiere of his Netflix crime comedy-drama The Gentlemen at the Guildhall Art Gallery in London on Wednesday, joined on the red carpet by his wife Jacqui Ainsley and son Rocco.
The 57-year-old filmmaker arrived at the venue wearing a casual suede bomber jacket for the screening of the series, which releases on Netflix on Thursday.
His model wife Jacqui Ainsley, 44, wore a black and green kimono dress as the couple held hands for photographers. The pair married in 2015 and share three children together.
Ritchie, known for directing British crime films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, married Ainsley at their country estate in Wiltshire after five years of dating.
Ritchie was also supported by his 26-year-old lookalike son Rocco Ritchie, who dressed in a grey suit for the premiere. Rocco is the director's son from his former marriage to pop singer Madonna.
Madonna and Ritchie were married between 2000 and 2008, sharing custody of Rocco, who has pursued a career as an artist and painter in London.
Red carpet cast arrivals in London
Cast members Maya Jama and Kaya Scodelario also attended the London premiere in striking gowns.
Jama joins the television series for its second season playing a gangster's moll, while Scodelario reprises her role as Susie Glass.
Scodelario previously featured in the Maze Runner film franchise and the British teen drama Skins, while Jama is widely recognized as the host of the reality dating show Love Island.
The premiere event featured other key cast members including lead actor Theo James, veteran actor Ray Winstone, Hugh Bonneville, and Giancarlo Esposito.
The premiere took place at the Guildhall Art Gallery, located in the historic heart of the City of London. The venue houses the art collection of the City of London Corporation.
Season two plot and trailer details
In the second season of the crime comedy-drama, lead character Eddie, played by Theo James, attempts to regain complete control of his estate by taking on the Glass family criminal empire.
In trailer footage for the series, Eddie looks across his sweeping estate grounds and says: "400 years ago, this estate spread out as far as the eye could see. I want it all back."
The plot picks up one year after Eddie and Susie Glass, played by Scodelario, joined forces to work together overseas as part of the operation run by kingpin Bobby Glass.
Both Eddie and Susie find themselves at odds with recent decisions made by Bobby Glass, forcing them to choose between following orders or acting independently.
In the trailer, Bobby Glass acknowledges their plans to expand, telling them he knows they are hoping he might support their efforts to "decriminalize marijuana."
Giancarlo Esposito returns as rival figure Stanley Johnston, encouraging Eddie to break away by telling him: "Forge your own path. Move away from Bobby Glass."
The season also introduces Hugh Bonneville as Lord Hawthorne alongside Jama's new character. The series has already received critical acclaim, with Daily Mail reviewer Christopher Stevens awarding the new season five stars.
Meghan Markle casting rumors and backlash
The season two launch follows media reports regarding potential casting for a prospective third season of the show involving Meghan Markle.
Initial claims suggested that Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, had been offered a role in the third instalment of the crime drama.
However, royal author Tina Brown reported that the casting offer was withdrawn after intense public reaction in Britain made the arrangement untenable.
Writing in her Fresh Hell Substack newsletter, Brown stated: "I learned that the casting of Meghan Markle has been withdrawn. The backlash was so intense it became untenable to go forward."
Brown added that the sudden withdrawal "does not bode well for Markle's acting comeback."
Markle previously starred as paralegal Rachel Zane in the American television series Suits before marrying Prince Harry in 2018. In 2022, she told Variety magazine: "I'm done. I guess never say never but my intention is to absolutely not."
Despite those earlier statements, sources close to the duchess have cited a potential return to acting as one of the factors connected to her and Prince Harry's potential return to Britain.
