Harry Styles opened his 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York with a musical tribute to Dolly Parton following her death on Tuesday.
The British singer began the American leg of his Together Together residency tour under a sombre atmosphere as the global music industry mourned Parton, who died on August 25, 2026.
Madison Square Garden, the famed indoor venue in Midtown Manhattan, fell silent for a few moments as concertgoers paid their respects to the legendary American country artist. Styles made adjustments to his setlist and stage layout for the opening performance.
Tribute to Dolly Parton
Following his performance of the track Coming Up Roses, Styles addressed the crowd to pay homage to Parton. He said he just wanted to properly thank all the musicians who had inspired him over the years, adding that they loved Parton and thanking her very much.
His band then performed Parton's famous ballad I Will Always Love You. The crowd inside the venue acted as a choir of voices as fans joined in to sing along live during the emotional moment.
Styles, who first rose to international prominence as a member of the boy band One Direction before establishing a successful solo career, has drawn massive crowds throughout his latest world tour.

Before arriving in the United States, Styles achieved a historic milestone in England on July 4, 2026, when he completed a residency of 12 consecutive nights at Wembley Stadium in London. The feat earned him a Guinness World Record for the longest residency of a single tour at the London venue.
The London residency marked the definitive conclusion of his European leg before thousands of spectators. The family of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, attended the final show.
During that final evening in London, his sister, writer Gemma Styles, took to the stage to share an emotional message after being introduced by band percussionist Pauli Lovejoy.
Addressing the crowd, Gemma Styles confessed that she did not think of him that way in daily life, but rather as a brother, an uncle and a best friend. Their mother, Anne Twist, later celebrated the tribute proudly on social media.
Shows and fan encounters in Mexico
Following the European dates, the tour encountered a brief disruption in South America. A scheduled concert in Brazil was cancelled due to alleged health issues, but the tour resumed as Styles traveled to Mexico for a series of performances at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City.
The residency in the Mexican capital comprised performances scheduled from July 31 and August 1, 4, 7, 8 and 10, drawing a massive gathering of fans.
While in Mexico City, Styles was spotted on the streets alongside his partner, actress Zoë Kravitz, featuring several viral encounters with fans. Their outings included a visit to the taquería Orinoco.
Styles also had an emotional conversation in the city with a fan who shared that his music had helped her overcome anorexia. After hearing her story, the singer agreed to take a photograph with her.
