Producer Amy Pascal estimates that the announcement of the next actor to play James Bond will take place by the end of 2026. Fans of Ian Fleming's secret agent have waited to learn who will assume the role of 007 since Daniel Craig completed his tenure with the 2021 film No Time to Die.
Speaking to Deadline, Pascal explained that the selection process is moving forward with great care. She said the team is extremely methodical, noting from her work with Barbara Broccoli that replacing Craig is a difficult task.
Pascal added that MGM, which is now owned by Amazon and holds creative control of the franchise, approaches the decision with particular seriousness. She said the next Bond must be something different that will excite audiences and stand out.
Potential Bond candidates
Bookmakers currently place 36-year-old Callum Turner as the favorite to become the next 007. Other main contenders include Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, and Louis Partridge, while West End actor Tom Francis has also emerged following reports of an audition earlier this year.
