Jay-Z is being discovered by a new generation of fans as his track Tom Ford resurges on TikTok, ahead of a two-night comeback show in London next month.
The Brooklyn-born rapper, who was dubbed the 'greatest rapper of all time' by Billboard and Vibe in 2023, has seen posts using the song amass more than 550,000 likes, 12,000 saves and 16,000 shares on the platform.

The song has appeared in more than 10,000 TikTok videos recently and peaked at number 39 on the Hot 100 chart. This month alone it crossed 100 million streams on Spotify.
Yankee Stadium residency and family performances
Jay-Z, who is worth $2.8billion, returned to his roots last month with a three-night residency at Yankee Stadium to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

He was joined on stage by his wife, Beyonce, 44, and their daughter, Blue Ivy, 14. Beyonce performed Mary J Blige's song Can't Knock the Hustle wearing a black pinstripe suit, and there was also a surprise performance from Rihanna, who performed B***h Better Have My Money.
A three-decade career
Since the release of his debut studio album in 1996, through his independent label Roc-A-Fella Records and his releases through the 2000s and 2010s, Jay-Z has helped define what a rapper can become as a business figure.
In April 2026, he was listed among the Top 30 Songwriters of All Time by The New York Times. He has won 24 Grammys, sold 140 million records and holds 14 Billboard 200 number one albums, the most of any solo act. He also became the first hip-hop artist to reach billionaire status, in June 2019.
A business empire beyond music
Jay-Z has produced films and video games, co-founded a basketball team, designed watches and launched his own ranges of cigars and fragrances. He has often said he is "not a businessman but a business, man," and analysts credit his strategy of owning companies outright rather than simply licensing his name.

In 1999 he launched a clothing range, Rocawear, which he sold for £160million in 2007.
His most valuable business asset, more lucrative than his music, is the Armand de Brignac champagne house, which he bought in 2014. Its gold-coloured bottles carrying an Ace of Spades logo first appeared in one of his music videos in 2006. An ordinary bottle retails for £235, while a giant 30-litre bottle can sell for more than £160,000.

Forbes estimates Jay-Z's stake in the champagne house is worth £245million. It puts his D'Ussé cognac venture with drinks giant Bacardi at £80million, and gives the same valuation to his music streaming service, Tidal.
Other assets in the Jay-Z empire include his entertainment company, Roc Nation, worth £59million according to Forbes, and an art collection valued at £55million, including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat that he has referenced in his lyrics. His wider £173million portfolio includes a £1.5million stake in Uber bought in 2013, now worth £55million.
London shows next month
Jay-Z will perform at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on September 4 and 5 as part of his continued celebrations of Reasonable Doubt's 30th anniversary. Tickets are available now.
