Jesikah Suggs, a television writer and co-producer on the Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys, has died at age 32 following a prolonged battle with breast cancer. Her family confirmed that she passed away on August 18 at her residence in Studio City, California. The news was initially published by PEOPLE magazine and subsequently reported by Deadline.
Suggs was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 24. Despite her diagnosis, she continued to develop her career in the audiovisual industry for eight years while undergoing treatment for the disease.
Suggs served as part of the creative team for My Life with the Walter Boys, a Netflix drama series based on the novel by Ali Novak. The show stars Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Sarah Rafferty, and Carson MacCormac. The production, which premiered in 2023, follows a teenage girl who moves to a small town to live with the large family of her guardian following a family tragedy.
In television production, a story editor works on writing and revising scripts, while a co-producer takes on higher creative and managerial duties within the writing staff. Suggs began her work on the Netflix series as a story editor during its first season. She was later promoted to co-producer for the second and third seasons. A memorial service in honor of Suggs was held on August 22 in Los Angeles, California. According to information published by PEOPLE, a second memorial service is scheduled for August 29 in Grapevine, Texas.
