Katie Price has revealed that her mother, Amy, is still in hospital and "very poorly" as she continues her long battle with a terminal lung condition.
The former glamour model, 47, gave the update on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, telling listeners that 74-year-old Amy remains unwell but is keeping up with the family's activities from her hospital bed.
"Mum is still in hospital. She's very poorly," Katie said. "She's very poorly at the minute, but she loves watching what we're doing. She loves us at the NTAs, she loved it, seeing us all there."
Diagnosed with terminal lung disease in 2017
Amy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, known as IPF, in 2017. The NHS describes the condition as one in which the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult over time.
When Amy was first diagnosed, medics told her she had a life expectancy of up to five years. Katie has since said her mother had just "two weeks left to live" when a lung donor was finally found in 2022, and Amy underwent a single lung transplant.
Fears during documentary filming
In July, Katie said she had been terrified her mother was going to die while the family filmed the Sky documentary Nothing To Hide.
"There were so many times we thought we were gonna lose mum through the filming," Katie said. "She just keeps battling through and I never thought she'd make the BAFTAs [in February], none of us did."
Katie also addressed her mother's condition on Good Morning Britain in May, after presenter Susanna Reid asked how Amy was doing. "My mum is poorly," Katie replied, before speaking directly to camera. "Mum, I know you're watching. I know you're unwell, but I just want to say that I love you so much. I'm coming to see you tomorrow, so yeah, she's not well at the moment, really not well."
That update came just two months after Amy had battled an infection.
'Frustrating' health challenges
Last year, Katie described how "frustrating" her mother's ongoing health struggles had become, explaining that Amy was "still switched on" mentally but unable to do the things she used to do.
Speaking to Amy on her podcast, Katie told fans her mother has good days and bad days. "I do feel for you mum, because people have to understand what my mum's gone through," Katie said. "Like her brain is just so active and still switched on. She can't do the things that she used to do, which is frustrating for her."
Katie also recalled how Amy still tries to get out and about despite her condition. "Here's an example, because I am a patient person, but when my mother teases me and says, 'Let's go look at the shops in Isle of Wight, shall I take my walker or wheelchair?' and I'm like 'No we're taking your wheelchair because I'm not taking an hour,'" Katie said. Amy responded that using the wheelchair was not helping her, since she was meant to walk to aid her own recovery.
Progress since her transplant
Giving an update on her health in November 2024, Amy told the Daily Star that recovery had been a slow process with several setbacks, but that she felt she was moving in the right direction.
"The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it's so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don't exercise, I won't move forward," she said. "I had a single lung transplant but it would seize up so I've got to exercise to get it working."
