Kelly Osbourne has said she feels "so sad" that her late father Ozzy Osbourne's Lifetime Achievement win at the BRIT Awards was overshadowed by criticism of her appearance.
Eight months after Ozzy Osbourne's death in July 2025, Kelly attended the BRIT Awards with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, to accept the posthumous prize on his behalf. Instead of the tribute being remembered for honoring her father, Kelly became the target of body-shaming from social media trolls over her weight loss.
"I got assassinated over something that should have been about my dad and his legacy," Kelly said, reflecting on the backlash.
Kelly Osbourne on the backlash over her weight
Speaking to Paul C Brunson on his We Need To Talk podcast, Kelly was asked how she felt about the comments made about her appearance and weight loss.
"First of all, I didn't know what I looked like. I couldn't see it," Kelly said. "I was so unwell. I couldn't see it. And then I saw those pictures and I was like, 'Oh my god.' Like, 'This is not good.'"
"I just couldn't believe like if I had cancer, people would be like, 'You look great, bravo. How brave of you,'" she continued. "But no, what I was suffering from was mental health issues and grief."

Kelly said that all the trolls "wanted to do was rip me to shreds. And it also made me so sad for the state of this world that people could be so cruel."
She admitted, however, that seeing the photos and the reaction to them "did allow me to see what they saw and it was a wakeup call."
Split from fiance Sid Wilson
Kelly alluded to her split from her fiance, Sid Wilson, the father of her three-year-old son, which came to light three weeks after the BRITs. "There was so much more going on in my life that I can't speak about that contributed. And if people only knew," she said.

Earlier this month, Kelly told HELLO! she has been receiving help and support over the past few months.
"I'm getting a lot better. I've got all the help I need and I'm grateful for the support I have in my life," she said. "This incredible team of people I've built around me who are not just my friends, because what you'll find when you're grieving is that people don't know how to handle it, and you do lose a lot of friends... But the ones who stick around are the real ones."
'A part of me died, too'
Kelly Osbourne is the daughter of Ozzy Osbourne, the Black Sabbath frontman and reality television star who rose to fame with his family on The Osbournes, and Sharon Osbourne, his manager and a television personality in her own right. Kelly is also known for her own television career, including her stint co-hosting Fashion Police.
Kelly believes a part of herself died when Ozzy Osbourne passed away and that she will never be the same again.
"It's been the hardest year of my life. I'll never be the person I was before my father died... a part of me died, too," she told HELLO!. "Everything is different. I'm different. Everything has changed, but it's just taking it one day at a time and putting the pieces back together in a way that you think will work."
The former Fashion Police star said she has a "lifetime of work" to do on herself but has found therapy very helpful.
"It's one foot in front of the other," she said. "You've got to fix the head before you can fix the body. It's a slow process. It's going to take me a minute. I'm not going to be fixed in a day."
