Since the world is world and we began to inhabit it as a species homo sapiens (wise man), we look for explanations to learn how to interact, survive and in a certain sense advance over the years, perpetuating the species and collaborating in many ways in its transformation – which by itself it transforms and that we too are changed by it. As much as you and I don’t want to move towards the “unexpected”, for the simple reason that what we already know brings us comfort, security and a certain satisfaction, we are practically on a treadmill and if we stand still, its movement drive away. Is it then possible to live with security and certainty, in the face of this constant change, without hindering the flow of life and suffering because of it? The letter “The world”from the Tarot, it has a lot to teach us.

the zen tale
Once, a monk and his disciple, on their way to the Alps, found along the way a house with very humble and helpful inhabitants, but with an almost undignified life. They got their livelihood basically thanks to crowdfunding. They took the milk, the cheese, the butter and from that they lived and traded. Starting from there, the monk says to his disciple: “go back and push that little cow over the precipice!”. The disciple, also horrified and with great regret, followed the order. After a few years, returning from their journey, they passed along the path again and saw the house, now completely restored and the inhabitants essentially unrecognizable, more jovial, with a lively appearance and clearly better fed. The unbelieving disciple approached and asked what had happened. Then they said that the cow had rolled over the precipice and that with that they had to go to the city – there they had discovered how to work and look for resources, they had learned new things and trades, they had perfected themselves, improving not only their quality, but also that of country in which they lived. He used to live there, since they started supplying various and quality products.
What’s your kitty?
No wonder we get so attached to what or who we conquer, after all, we allocate physical, mental, emotional effort and time. But what is the real guarantee that this or that person will continue on our path? Impossible to know! We just have to follow the same logic stated at the beginning: to transform and be changed, we are the agent and at the same time the result of the experiment, and if this principle is not constant, suffering will be present – being in monotony, in scarcity, coldness or indifference. Why is it so challenging to look at the quality that this implies in our life, to cling only to the results of the transformations that take place in us?
What you are looking for is also looking for you
If we look to nature, we will see how wise it is, and sometimes it will pass us by and push our kitty over the precipice, so that we wake up, react and go in search. The Persian poet Rumi (1207) once said that “what you are looking for is looking for you”. If you seek happiness, it will find you. Your role is to trust and keep searching, to find security in uncertain scenarios, i.e. knowing that your concepts are all tentative, you only have the best you can get so far, but have the lifelong determination to use the learning opportunities that life throws at you offers to improve these concepts.
Symbolism of “The World”
But is it possible to be sure and with it the constant security that we seek so much? And the answer is yes, because the meaning of human life is improvement. The representation of this major arcana of the tarot, “The World”, has many elements and what is most striking is the level of balance in the distribution of these symbols, which refer to the idea that to achieve a state of improvement, it is necessary to organize the own life and give the right measure to things, we leave aside what is not suitable for our evolution.
At the ends of this card we find some animals already formed: they are symbols of the aspects that involve our formation, individualization and life. They are: a Taurus, which represents material things (work, home, relationship and all that is possible to have, is the Earth Element), a Leo, which represents the strength of the spirit (still not our higher consciousness, but the ‘ego, will, initiative, is the Fire Element), an eagle that represents feelings (pleasure, emotions, the lens through which we see the outside world, is the Water Element) and finally a angel, representing mentality (thoughts, logic, reason, ideas, mind, the Element of Air). With that, the necessary space will remain for the encounter with our higher consciousness. The central symbol of “O Mundo” is represented by a half-naked figure. We see then that it is impossible to find it in the midst of the chaos, the disorder, the haste which although it is the fear of many, ends up being the best way to live, because then there will be no danger of looking within and facing this higher consciousness.
The path is always inside
Real dreams that aren’t even close to realizing, as one is immersed in constant distractions in search of external security. Around her we see a sort of oval halo that preserves and identifies her from all other aspects of life, she is totally secure, anchored and centred, because she knows who she is, she is not diluted in what she has, desires, feels or imagines. She knows how to preserve her constant improvement and since then she has also been involved in improving the aspects that involve her life.
