Anvisa suspends lots of Blowtex condoms; checklist

The “Blowtex Zero” and “Blowtex Sensitive Super Aloe Vera” condoms failed the blowout test and do not have the same validity as announced by the manufacturer

A National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) suspended the sale, use, manufacture, distribution and importation of 57 lots from two condoms brand blowtex. According to the agency, the products Blotex Zero AND Blowtex Sensitive Super Aloe Vera have failed the burst test and, therefore, do not have the same validity as published by the manufacturer.

“The action was taken because the suspended batches failed burst tests after 3 years of the product’s useful life, making it impossible to maintain its validity for up to five years, counted from production,” explains Anvisa.

“That is, the products have not demonstrated the same level of strength and quality after 3 years of production,” says the agency, which says it has already started the veto batch recall process. The decision to suspend condoms was published in Official Journal of the Union (DOU) this Thursday 23.

In a statement posted on the company’s website, Blowtex confirms that batches of both types of condoms have shorter shelf lives than advertised. “Be aware that some batches of our condoms Blotex Zero AND Blowtex Sensitive Super Aloe Vera have an incorrect expiration date,” informs the company.

“These batches were initially produced with a shelf life of 5 years from the date of manufacture. Recent laboratory tests have indicated that there may be an increased risk of breakage for condoms older than 3 years,” the company added. in the statement.
