Son of Elis Regina, Pedro Mariano reveals his love for running

OR singer Pedro Mariano, 47 years old, is recognized wherever he goes to be the son of the late singer Elis Regina and pianist César Camargo Mariano. What many don’t know is that the musician reconciles two passions, i.e. the 47-year-old singer from São Paulo is a lover of running.

“Running, I think, started for me around 2008 or 2009. I have a great friend, his mother is a street runner. We always talked about it, until one day we ‘put our heads together’ and went running. 10km test to see what it was about, then the ‘bug’ got me and I started giving myself full attention to the race” said Pedro Mariano exclusively for the sports life.

Pedro’s concert schedules and other professional activities don’t interfere with his training, meaning wherever he travels he always has a pair of trainers in his rucksack to keep up with his favorite exercise. The musician also detailed what his training pace is like.

“Immediately after the pandemic, I joined a consulting firm and since then I have a ‘task’ (laughs) every week. I run about 20 and 25km a week. Training is done on Tuesdays and Thursdays with minimal running of 6-7 km and on Saturday we go for the ‘long’, which is always at least 10 and goes to 12, 14 and depending on the objective we set ourselves for the next race”, he explained.

Whether on asphalt or on the track, Mariano is an “imprinted figure” in road racing due to the four surgeries he has undergone on his knee and the unstable ground scares him. His feeding, however, does not provide for any renunciation and only when he is close to a test does he make “sacrifices”.

“Food and sleep are the best things to have a good training pace. At the moment I am advised by a nutritionist and in fact I ended up re-educating myself. I’m not a destructive person in my diet, but they don’t have great deprivations”, he assured the musician.

What is the proof of Pedro Mariano’s dream?

“I’d like to do a half marathon on these important circuits. Paris would be great, Buenos Aires I know it’s half marathon and it’s a dream and Berlin. These are the three places I’d like to run. France because it’s beautiful, Berlin why not I know Buenos Aires because it’s on the ‘side’ and you can have a good weekend and enjoy a flat race with pleasant temperatures,” he admitted.

The artist is a fan of São Paulo, a team that was eliminated by Água Santa in the quarterfinals of the Paulista Championship and that is in Copa do Brasil, Copa Sudamericana and Série A of the Brazilian championship. Mariano gave his “pitaco” on the current phase of his favorite team.

“I hope there is an improvement in the atmosphere at São Paulo, but I don’t expect much. I think São Paulo will understand if everything goes very well among the eight or seven best teams in Brazil next year,” he said. .
