“It is possible to achieve certain aesthetic goals even if you are vegetarian or vegan and, obviously, without consuming meat. The question is that you know how to eat and make the right choices”, replied the nutritionist Dani Borges.
Immediately there is another question of how to make this exclusion.
Dani clarified that there is a difference between animal and vegetable proteins and that there is no shortage of options to make the dish very nutritious. “Even so, a combination of rice and beans already gives us a combination of proteins, amino acids and other nutrients, which are very similar to the biological value of animal proteins,” she guaranteed.
Dani stressed that meat can be exchanged for other sources, such as dark leafy vegetables: legumes, peas, beans, lentils, chickpeas, as well as the combination that he defines as “wonderful”, ie rice and beans.
“Those who are vegetarian and who are vegan can also have a well-balanced diet. Well-balanced, tasty and without meat in the diet,” concluded nutritionist Dani Borges.
How is the vegetarian profile?
The Food Guide for the Brazilian population produced by the Ministry of Health defines vegetarians as people who choose not to consume foods of animal origin. The restriction applies only to meat. It is therefore possible to exclude the consumption of eggs and milk or even of all foods of animal origin or derivation, such as honey and jelly.
