With the explosion of 30, 20 and even incredible 10 m2 “studios” on the market, there is a growing need for architectural and decorative projects and solutions that improve the use of space and enhance every inch of the rooms.

The bathroom is usually one of the narrower rooms in the layout of these properties, being slightly larger than a toilet (also because it has a shower or shower), but much smaller than the much dreamed of bathrooms. Is it possible to improve this feeling?

Fani Metalli e Accessori believes so and, for this reason, meets hereafter 3 tips to optimize the space of small bathrooms with the help of the plastic artist and room designer, Analu Guimaraes.

Lighting for small bathrooms

The size of a room is obviously the most important factor in the perception of “fitness” in a room, but it is not the only one. Dimly lit bathrooms will definitely look smaller than they are.

Because they look like a toilet, they usually don’t have windows that could offer natural light. If this is the case, expert advice is to pay close attention to the type of lighting.

“Usually specific LED ceiling lights for small bathrooms, because in addition to offering a very interesting cost-benefit ratio, they are very thin and provide more homogeneous lighting”, explains Analu.

“If there are no windows, I do not recommend more decorative and scenographic lighting in this type of bathroom. To illuminate the face well, it is better to use light fixtures around or on the sides of the mirrorincreasing accuracy,” he adds.

Who said that the bathroom mirror has to be just above the sink and always have the same shape? Varying the dimensions, shapes and even the colors of the mirrors is a very interesting proposal for dynamism and fluidity in furnishing small bathrooms.

“The compositions with different types of mirrors in this type of bathroom are very amusing, which also accepts more daring proposals, such as mirroring the shower/shower box from floor to ceiling. and in other small environments,” says the designer.

Accessories

Accessories cannot be missing in any type of bathroom, but in small ones you can see how precious they can be, especially if adapted to obtain more dynamic and practical uses to overcome the lack of space.

“The walls in a small bathroom are very crowded, so it will not always be possible to install multiple towel rails. You can use the workbench header to install a bar model to support hand or face towels or, if you still prefer it to the wall, you can use a hanger model instead of bar or ring”, exemplifies Analu.

“The same goes for the trash can. If there’s no room to install it on the wall, install it in a niche at the bottom of the workbench it is a discreet but very elegant solution”, completes the designer.
