Find out how to regain skin vitality after pregnancy
With the arrival of the baby, the woman needs to completely adapt her routine, spending many nights without sleep and also without time to take care of herself. As a result, her skin tends to become drier and the dreaded dark circles appear.

Also, postpartum is a time to deal with sagging and other issues left over from pregnancy, such as acne scars and dark spots. After all, we know that because it involves intense hormonal changes, it messes up (and a lot) the woman’s body.
According to Dr. Fernanda Nichelle, Doctor of Dermatology, chloasma, a condition that causes spots on the skin, is one of the main problems that can arise both during pregnancy and after. However, the good news is that it can be treated.
“There are different ways to fight it, but you have to be very careful, because, in the postpartum period, the woman will probably be breastfeeding and, during pregnancy, she will have the baby in her belly. So, many products shouldn’t be used during these times, but some acids are released, for example azelaic,” she says.
Below, you can see what care is essential to keep your skin healthy after giving birth:
stay hydrated
Boost your water intake, as it can help fight skin dryness and reduce the appearance of dark circles. Also, don’t forget to include moisturizing cosmetics in your skincare routine. A suggestion is to apply them twice a day, after the face cleansing phase.
Oh, and it’s worth mentioning that water is also essential for addressing relaxation, as it promotes the renewal of collagen and elastin fibers, contributing to improved skin elasticity.
Take care of the spots and apply sunscreen
If you have noticed the appearance of spots on your face after pregnancy, know that, over time, they tend to disappear naturally. Despite this, Dr. Fernanda points out that there are different technologies and products that can be prescribed by a dermatologist to treat these changes, whether they are caused by pimples or chloasma.
Have a healthy diet
One of the biggest secrets to having beautiful, problem-free skin is maintaining a balanced diet. In the postpartum period, it is worth prioritizing the consumption of foods rich in protein, omega 3 and iron, as they work by stimulating the production of collagen, resulting in firmer and more luminous skin.
Foods that have antioxidant properties, for example pineapple, orange, strawberry, carrot, cucumber, spinach and fish are interesting for reducing dark circles and eye puffiness.
