After the diagnosis, the presenter closed the agenda, planned a trip to the United States and focused on spiritual treatment
With two companies, course, podcast and TV recording, Yudi Tamashiro he was not surprised to find that tightness in his chest and stomach, among other symptoms, were signs of exhaustion. The presenter was diagnosed with the disease after going to the emergency room last Tuesday (23).
“I’ve had, several times, great irritations, of not wanting to listen to anyone. ‘If you come and talk to me, just find a solution because otherwise I’ll explode’. But at this level, it was the first time. It seems that desperation takes over”, he said, in an interview with Earth.
As his wife, singer Mila said, Yudi stressed that the diagnosis came as a confirmation of what he already knew: I was working too much. In addition to his return to SBT, where he participated in the “Cantando em Família” segment, on the Silvio Santos program, and recorded the pilot for the new “Programa Livre”, Yudi opened a contractor in Japan, an office to take care of the digital marketing of companies and manages their career in Brazil, produces a podcast and has created a communication course.
“Then one day, three days ago, I woke up with a bunch of messages on my WhatsApp to sort out. My mouth felt dry, my hands started to tingle, I felt a lot of pressure on my stomach – I already have nervous gastritis – , a tightness in my chest with despair. I asked myself: what is happening to me? And then I went to the hospital,” he detailed. On the ward, he took a tranquilizer and underwent a series of tests until he was diagnosed.
Body and soul care
Now that she knows the root of her problem, Yudi’s first step was to temporarily block her professional schedule. He intends to better prioritize commitments so he doesn’t overwhelm himself again.
“The only thing I haven’t stopped is doing God’s work, preaching in churches because it’s something that makes me feel good. I share what I’m experiencing, my desperation, my afflictions, I leave everything there”, said the presenter who spoke with the Earth, this Friday morning (26), directly from Rio de Janeiro. He traveled precisely to preach in the church of pastor Claudio Duarte.
As the treatment of mental health problems, such as burnout, is multidisciplinary, Yudi also intends to take care of her diet and get back into physical activity. On the other hand, she does not currently consider doing a psychological follow-up.
“I’ve seen a psychologist before, a Christian psychologist, but I know it’s work. With the spiritual side, I know my mistakes, it’s about wanting to embrace the world. [equilibrando trabalho, vida social e descanso]I will have more security”, he defends himself.
What is the treatment for burnout?
An occupational disease technically defined as “unsuccessfully managed chronic work-related stress”, burnout today affects millions of workers around the world. In Brazil alone, a 2019 survey by the International Stress Management Association (Isma-BR) states that 32% of the country’s economically active population has suffered from the problem.
Psychotherapeutic and psychiatric treatment is recommended for people with symptoms or already diagnosed with the disease – the psychiatrist can assess the need to prescribe antidepressants and/or anxiolytics. The regular practice of physical activities, the cultivation of habits that favor personal well-being and the removal from the sick environment, when possible, are also effective measures in treatment.
