Sidney Magal has already left the intensive care unit of the Hospital do Coração (HCor), in São Paulo, but the pressure spike that the singer suffered during a show, Thursday night (25), caused him a “little vascular accident,” as he commented on Instagram.
“At the time it was an elevation, a very sharp increase in pressure. Immediately when I was assisted, a small vascular accident was detected which could have become a very serious thing, if I had not been treated immediately,” he told the his followers in a post published on Tuesday evening (30).
First aid was provided by a hospital team in São José dos Campos, where the artist was performing. From there he was transferred to the HCor, where he has been since last Friday (26) and is now hospitalized in a common room.
The stroke in question was haemorrhagic, explained as a “thalamic bleed”, the main cause of which is the increase in blood pressure. “Bleeding is an acute condition: blood pressure rises, overcomes the resistance of the artery, ruptures the vessel and causes hemorrhage within the part of the brain that is affected. In this case, the thalamus,” explains the cardiologist. clinician Alberto Las Casas.
As the doctor points out, the thalamus performs various functions in the body and, when compromised, damages the structures, with the risk of developing unfavorably up to swelling of the brain. “The consequences are unpredictable,” says Las Casas, citing implications in motor control and impairment of immediate memory and emotion as examples.
Fortunately, Sidney Magal’s painting left no major problems. In the social media post, the singer says on video that he’s already “sitting down and getting up.” “I think my legs are shaking, you’ll only see it in the songs I dance to,” he joked, in a good mood.

In addition to Magal’s stroke, the cardiologist points out that hypertension also increases the risk of heart attack, angina and other cardiovascular diseases. Increased blood pressure is also a risk factor for problems related to kidney function and vision loss.
