Father Kelmon says Soraya apologized for “the father of the June party”; the senator denies

Senator Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil-MS) and Father Kelmon (PTB), the “priest candidate”, spoke for the first time by video conference, eight months after a heated debate that resulted in a series of memes in the 2022 election campaign. The call, brokered by the interim president of the PTB, Kassyo Ramos, ended without reconciliation and with a new misunderstanding. Kelmon says Soraya has apologized for using phrases like “father of the June party.” The Senator denies.

In an improbable confrontation on Sept. 29 of last year, the then-presidential candidates exchanged barbs throughout the election debate on TV Globo, with the senator taunting her opponent: “Aren’t you afraid of going to hell?”

The video meeting, on May 26, took place when Soraya had lunch with Ramos in Brasilia. In an interview with a podcast on Monday 5, Kelmon said he would break the news “firsthand” of an alleged reconciliation of the two.

In the version of the virtual meeting of the petebista, there was a mutual apology. “I want to take advantage of the fact that we’re speaking for the first time since the debate, that you’ll forgive me if I was rude to you at one point and if I said something that displeased you,” Kelmon said.

Then, according to the PTB supporter, the senator repeated the gesture. “He did the same thing. And he said to me, ‘Father, I also have to apologize to you, because I was nervous and called you something that didn’t go well.'”

In the podcast, Roberto Jefferson’s replacement in the last election also said that Soraya would invite him to meet with her office in Brasilia and promise to speak publicly about him. “A friendship is developing and I hope it bears fruit for Brazil,” said Kelmon.

This Tuesday 6 confirmed the version about the conversation between the two of Stadium. “We have also agreed to meet in Brasilia. I myself want to visit it,” she said.

However, according to the senator, the conversation did not have that tone. Soraya told the report, also on Tuesday, that she has not apologized to Kelmon and that, due to the campaign climate at the time, she sees no reason enough to apologize to her former adversary.

According to the lawmaker, when the PTB chairman took out his cell phone and showed the video call with Father Kelmon, he replied with “God bless you, my daughter.” That was the hook for an answer that, according to Soraya, had a joking tone. “You can’t give extreme unction.”
