I am a bad housewife: can this be fixed?

It doesn’t matter how your housekeeping skills are rated by all sorts of strangers like your mother-in-law. Another thing is important: if you yourself think that you have problems with order in the house. Can anything be done about this? Let us first see what the inability to maintain order around oneself consists of.

I am a bad housewife: can this be fixed?

It turns out that in some hands everything is on fire, while in others everything works, as it was said in an old movie. It is easy to decide that laziness, bad habits, curvature, and other defects in education, which can be repaired by an effort of will, are to blame for the disorder.

In some homes, the owners are even suspected to have a mental illness – well, a healthy person can’t handle the space they live in so much. Well, it also happens, but even quite ordinary healthy people like, know how, practice creating a dump branch in an apartment and existing there.

In order not to offend anyone, I will take the closest example of a bad housewife – myself. No, I try very hard, but I will never have a perfect house, anyone who cares will notice flaws in the whole.

Anyone but me. One of the simple reasons which is hard to believe is poor eyesight. “Can’t you see the cobwebs under the ceiling?!” Well, I don’t see. If you also do not wear glasses, hoping that juvenile myopia will one day turn into senile hyperopia, then alas, it does not work. The vision itself is not repaired, the world remains in a pleasant fog, which skillfully blurs the details at arm’s length. I really can’t see what’s in the corner under the ceiling.

In such a case, it is always worth getting glasses and looking at the house through them once a week. I assure you, you will find many interesting and terrible things.

If there are no glasses, a life hack: hard-to-reach places can be photographed with a phone and then examined, bringing the details closer.

Another reason: I see, but do not understand. I don’t have the “I saw the mess, I cleaned it up” reflex. I once read a question to the men in my friendship line: “But when you brush your teeth and splatters of paste fall on the mirror, do you wipe them off immediately or do you wait for the next cleaning? “. I heard directly how anger boils in a woman, she probably expected to find out it’s a constructive male flaw, and I clean up the girls right away. But alas, it doesn’t work that way anymore.

I’m the type of girl who a) doesn’t notice much because she looks in the mirror and not in the mirror;

b) does not somehow add the “view – delete” connection.

You can work with it. When your dreamy gaze stops on a stain, make an effort, do not look at the sky, but look at a damp cloth, take it in your hands and remove the stain. Immediately! Believe me, if the house isn’t on fire, there’s nothing more urgent than spreading a rag on the table.

And that brings us to the third reason: the unavailability of cleaning products.

No, I’m not talking about the fact that you live in the steppe and the nearest household store is ten kilometers away on foot. I’m talking about getting it in my head that wet wipes should be in the bathroom, a fancy vacuum cleaner should be in a box in the pantry, and a garbage can should be hidden in a cabinet under the sink. Yes but no. Wet wipes should also be in every room, buckets for small debris should be placed both under the work table and under the dressing table, and a lightweight upright vacuum should take pride of place in the corner of the room. once assembled. There are very beautiful models that do not spoil the interior, but in any case it will be much more spoiled by dust and crumbs on the floor.

This way, we make it as easy as possible to create a “see – delete” scheme.

Another reason for the constant clutter is the lack of space. It seems that small apartments are easier to clean, but in reality they are not. In a spacious house, you can install cabinets and operate a robot vacuum cleaner. In the tiny apartments, everything out of place creates a feeling of clutter, you have to be careful, like a naval officer living in a cabin – nothing superfluous, everything is on the shelves. You will have to seriously work on storage, put everything in cabinets and boxes – and remember where. And then each time to put everything back in its place. Because there is no particular problem to put things in order, the problem is maintenance.

The main reason is therefore clutter, which is just as dangerous in cupboards as it is in minds. Distraction, sentimentality and poverty lead us to disorder. You forget where everything is, where you have to put that particular thing. It’s a pity to get rid of your favorite old rags, souvenirs, sewing materials, which you once loved. You don’t fix what’s broken, but you don’t throw it away either. You are afraid to throw away a thing that can be useful once every five years, because it is not known whether there will be money to buy a new one. And, of course, to hire an au pair, you also need funds.

No one can solve financial problems with just one magic trick, but it’s no coincidence that many practices related to improving the quality of life start with decluttering. Throwing away forty things, throwing away everything that does not bring joy – I would not approach this task so abruptly, but gradually you need to get rid of excess.

On the whole, the sense of order consists of clarity, purity and freedom. Think about how to make them more in your life, then everything will somehow work out with the house.
