The environment designed by Catê Poli and João Jadão for CASACOR São Paulo has a jabuticaba tree and furniture with organic lines
A playful garden, which enhances and accompanies the contours of the modernist architecture of one of the most iconic buildings in the country, the Conjunto Nacional, and which, through the organic forms of the furnishings and the legitimately Brazilian landscape, becomes a large living room. The environment is inspired by nature, combination of Brazilian and exotic plantsin the curves of the human body and in the desire to connect with the inner essence of the visitors, like a real welcoming space.
The moodboard with earthy and green tones denotes the non-repeating color gradient. the space of 150 m2 in the outdoor area, designed on a large livable porch, it allows a break from the frenzy.
Without the intervention of works – since the Conjunto Nacional is classified as historical heritage -, the layout of the area follows the sinuosity of the building. Therefore, the taller species, such as the Trachycarpus Palms, were allowed to clad the walls and frames in white in the background.
“In our environment, plants with leaves of various sizes and shades of green are what make the compositions even more special,” says João Jadão.
Among the small sitting areas that make up the generous outdoor living room, Catê and João praise the richness of the meticulous selection of native plants, such as jabuticabeira, fern, tostão, shiny black yam and guaimbêamong others, and exotic ones, such as ripsalis, phoenix palmetc.
“We believe the mix of exotic and native results in biodiversity of the garden, which in addition to being beautiful, must be functional, and have the best typologies for each situation, whether from one source or another”, says Catê.
With the variation in the size of the species and the abundant natural lighting, the garden features shaded areas and a cooler, milder atmosphere, ideal for enjoying at different times of the day.
The only fruit tree among the species, the jabuticaba tree is not new in the participation of Catê Poli and João Jadão in CASACOR São Paulo. The appreciation of both for the species has its reasons: in addition to being native to the Atlantic Forest, the plant awakens the most tender emotional memories, of when the sweet fruit with its purple skin and white pulp was enjoyed directly from the burning feet in the courtyards from other times.
“It is a fact that brings us incredible memories,” says João Jadão, who also highlights its resistance and adaptability to be grown both in the ground and in pots, composing very well the landscaping of outdoor areas and apartment balconies .
The décor is inviting and evokes the genuine design of warm and legitimately Brazilian pieces. To admire the abundance of species in the outdoor living room, the contemporary style gives shape to organic sofas and armchairs, as well as armchairs rattan.
To surround each of the living rooms, the original floor of the Conjunto Nacional was covered with handmade carpets hand-woven on a PVC thread loom. To complete the authorial design, the Forcado bench, by designer Pedro Luna, gives a new meaning to the gardening tool.
