A Food and Drug Administration (FDA)entity equivalent to Anvisa in the United States, last week approved the sale of a gel for erectile dysfunction in the country. The product, called eroxonwas developed by Pharmaceutical Future doctorit is done at alcohol and water base and can be used from the age of 22. The information was released on the FDA website this week.
Unlike other products available in the market for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, Eroxon not considered medicine and is the first gel solution to the problem. Today the main products used for erectile dysfunction are Viagra or Cialis pills, penile prostheses, injectable drugs and intraurethral devices. In some cases, hormone replacement can work as well.
“This gel provides more local stimulation of blood vessels, whereas oral medications (the most used) perform vasodilation through the bloodstream,” says Alex Meller, a professor of urology at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) and a member of the clinical staff at the Albert Einstein Hospital of Israel.
