Do you know what prejereba is? Despite the rather complicated name, it is nothing more than a fish. He was the subject of a dispute between the participants of MasterChef in the episode broadcast last Tuesday evening (11).

The auction is already a well-known feature of MasterChef. In the case of yesterday’s dispute, with each species revealed by Ana Paula Padrão, the contestants made higher bids and, with that, reduced the time available to prepare the recipe.

Among the options available for auction were: boyfriend, red, red mullet, prejereba, anchovy, red snapper, manjuba, triggerfish, horse mackerel, bull’s eye and sea bream. And it was the fish with the curious name that generated the most comical scenes of the episode.

What is prejereba?

Prejereba has been featured on MasterChef

The prejereba is nothing but a warm water marine fish found in the tropics. It can grow up to 90 cm long and weigh 18 kg. Among fishermen, the fish is also known as djerba, leaf fish, sleep fish, sleeper, sea cará, flasher and steamboat.

According to the blog Bóra Pescar, the prejereba likes to hide near floating objects in the sea. It is near boxes, planks, buoys, seaweed, pillars and other structures. The fish has the power to blend in and often goes unnoticed.

The pre-jereba presented on MasterChef was excellent and was praised by chef Rodrigo Oliveira, from the Mocotó restaurant. “It is a fish that I love in fillets, in stews, the skin is good, it is good for grilling”, highlighted the jury.
