The inclusion of races, genders, ethnicities and cultures defines bathroom design

The Trees Arquitetura studio designed the Pluralidade space for CASACOR São Paulo 2023

Unafraid to face challenges, the new debutants at CASACOR São Paulo 2023, Eloy and Felipe Fichberg, from Tree architecturesign the titled project Plurality. It is a bathroom beyond, immersed in the concept of diversity, which embraces races, genders, ethnic groups and all anthropic cultures.

Thinking about this year’s theme, Body and addressthe architects, who also experience the father-son relationship every day, propose an experience of individual connection and bond between human beings, as they understand the house as a subjective concept, where even the body is a home and which, for this reason, must be to establish conviviality with others.

Modest to welcome

The Trees Arquitetura studio duo designed an environment with the aim of breaking the stereotypes of practicality and simplicity. Therefore, they share a reading that the bathroom is much more than a practical and habitual space, but also seeks to welcome all with equality, respect and kindness.

To offer a warm welcome, 35 m2 they have been meticulously decorated in a rustic-modern style with numerous details in sober tones to exude a particular energy of intimacy, which also stands out through the light fixtures in an attempt to enhance the coverings.

At the heart of the project, another attraction is the bench, formed by a milky way black granite cubewith sober lines and equal sides of 1.75 m.

“Each person will wash their hands on one of the faces of the cube and will be able to see three other people at the same time thanks to an incredible game of images produced by the mirrors coming from the ceiling,” explains Eloy. “Imposing and elegant, this monobloc is also ergonomic, as it has slots near the floor to allow feet to enter when people wash their hands,” she adds.

Even the architect Eloy emphasizes attention to sustainable criteria, since all specified paints and materials are not harmful to the environment, as well as reusable and operationally produced coatings. Also in this area, the proposal followed the precepts of the reuse of materials, such as the conscious disposal of construction waste, the discharge pressure reducers for a more efficient use of water, in addition to LED lamps for more efficient consumption and lower electricity consumption.

Another highlight of Pluralidade is the main hall with the freijo melamine coating on the walls and the set of mirrors installed in the black frame descending from the ceiling. “There is a mirror for each bath, causing the dynamism and, at the same time, the privacy of the place,” says Felipe.

The bathroom has reserved and accessible cabin for PNE (Persons with Special Needs), made with support bars and ideal size, following the technical standards that aim at comfort and safety. It is covered with marble and glass inserts, in shades of green and white, combined with the non-slip porcelain stoneware floor.

The project hasn’t forgotten the mums and dads with babies, because there is a very special, discreet and romantic dressing room. Covered with light floral print wallpaper, it also offers a very comfortable nursing chair, as well as a padded changing table and a microwave oven that is always ready to heat bottles and baby food for babies and toddlers.
