The businessmen belong to the same family and were returning to Brazil after holidays in Italy when they met the STF minister at the airport
BRASÍLIA – Two men who harassed the minister of Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexander of Moraesat Rome’s international airport, are part of a same family from inside São Paulo. Real estate agent Alex Zanatta Bignotto is married to the daughter of entrepreneur Roberto Mantovani Filho. Both have been identified by Federal Police and answer a survey.
The family lives in Santa Bárbara D’Oeste, in the hinterland of São Paulo, and controls companies in the region. Bignotto owns a real estate agency. His father-in-law is involved in property management, business consulting and plumbing equipment.
In 2020 Mantovani allocated 19 thousand reais to electoral campaigns and the PSD of Santa Bárbara D’Oeste. The businessman donated BRL 4,000 to the electoral campaign of José Antonio Ferreira, PSD candidate for mayor of Santa Bárbara D’Oeste. “Dr. José” was not elected. Mantovani also transferred R$11,000 to the PSD leadership in the city.
In the same year, the businessman contributed to the campaign of Josué Ricardo Lopes, of the PTB, in the city hall of Socorro, a municipality within the state. Mantovani conceded to motionless to be used as commission. Ricardo Lopes was elected.
To the StadiumMantovani, 71, said the family was approached by the Federal Police at 5 this Sunday 15, when they arrived in Brazil on a flight from Italy. The entrepreneur, his wife “Andreia”, their children, son-in-law and granddaughters spent their holidays in the European country. According to the PF, she too participated in the episode of hostility against the minister.
“After we disembarked, we were called by three very polite federal police officers,” the businessman said. Alex Zanatta was contacted by phone, but did not answer calls or messages. Their publications on social networks are reserved for friends.
Mantovani said Stadium that the agents reported the case and that he left his contacts with the Federal Police. He specifies that he will respond if called upon to provide clarifications. The businessman said he saw Alexandre de Moraes at the airport, but said he had not addressed the minister. He said he still is “very sad” with the case.
“I never imagined going through this at that age, already retired,” he said. “Let’s wait for the next steps. I have nothing against him. I’m not connected politicsI’m not attached to anything.”
Moraes, who is also president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), was attacked by three Brazilians at around 6:45 pm on Friday local time (1:45 pm in Brasilia). The woman called the minister “a bandit, a communist and bought”. Mantovani, according to the PF, intensified the insults and even physically attacked the minister’s son. Zanatta joined the two vulgarly. The information was confirmed by the interlocutors of the PF and the Ministry of Justice.
Mantovani said Stadium that his wife didn’t curse Moraes. “She told me that she didn’t say anything about it,” she said. Although he has been identified as an individual who attacked the STF minister’s son, he said he believed what happened “was nothing out of the ordinary”. Mantovani refused to comment on the assault episode because he prefers to wait for the authorities to charge him with possible crimes he may have committed.
Moraes was accompanied by his family to the airport. The minister was returning from the University of Siena, where he lectured at the International Law Forum. The three Brazilians became the subject of an investigation by the PF, but were never arrested. The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB), called Moraes and sympathized with the violence suffered by the magistrate, but the STF informed that he would not comment on the case.
