The 1st Special Criminal Court and Public Treasury of Vitória, Espírito Santo, has received a curious request, as announced on Tuesday 8. A bald man has filed a request to be able to wear caps or other types of hats in public buildings. The request has been rejected.
The man did not reveal his identity, but claimed he was bald and therefore felt “embarrassed” when he had to enter establishments that required him to take off his cap. He also stated that his nerves are altered and that he feels his dignity is exposed.
According to the judge of Espírito Santo, the obligation to remove any type of accessory to enter public buildings is necessary for safety reasons. Thus, a person’s individual interest cannot prevail over the public interest. For this reason, the request was rejected.
“The individual hardship felt by the offender cannot be used to violate the safety standards of public or private establishments,” Judge Rubens José da Cruz summed up in the decision.
