In what condition was MC Marcinho?
The funk artist had been hospitalized since June 27 at CopaD’Or hospital, in Copacabana, for kidney and heart failure, as well as a generalized infection. MC Marcinho had received an “artificial heart”, a device that replaces the pumping of blood by the heart.
According to cardiologist Dr. Roberto Yanothe singer’s generalized infection prevented him from receiving a heart transplant.
“Heart transplantation is an important alternative for the treatment of pathologies such as heart failure that affected the singer, however the National Transplant System establishes that the patient must meet the minimum conditions to receive the organ and undergo an operation surgical, which cannot be done with a doctor. aggravated condition of sepsis”explains the health professional.
How does the artificial heart work?
Artificial heart device, also known as ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), is actually a device that performs the function of the heart to pump blood around the body.
“It’s a device that can be used for weeks or even months while waiting for the heart to recover, or act as a ‘bridge’ while waiting for a heart transplant”concludes Dr. Roberto Yano.
