What is polytrauma?
Polytrauma is defined by multiple injuries occurring simultaneously in more than one organ or system of the body, following a trauma, according to André Bianco, neurosurgeon trauma specialist at Hospital Nove de Julho. “For example, the patient broke his leg, injured his lung and suffered a trauma to his liver,” describes Alexandre Penna, orthopedic surgeon at BP – A Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo.

For example, uncontrolled bleeding and drops in blood pressure can occur, increasing the risk of sequelae”, teaches Bianco.
