No one thinks twice about going to the doctor when injured, for example.

Why do people still have so many prejudices and are there so many taboos regarding our mental health?

If you play football on the weekend, fall to the ground and hurt your finger, go to the emergency room immediately, go to the orthopedic surgeon, take an X-ray, put a splint, put a compress and start using anti-inflammatories. There are even those who are proud of having injured a finger in football.

With mental health, the situation is completely opposite. If we are going through a difficult phase, have emotional difficulties and feel sad, anxious or distressed, we often keep everything to ourselves.

Many people ruminate on these emotions and don’t share them with anyone because they think they have to handle the situation on their own.

Mental health is still seen as a matter of weakness of character or difficulty solving one’s problems. And it’s nothing like that!

Mental health is essential in everyone’s life and we must learn to address the taboos, stigmas and prejudices surrounding this topic.

If you are not well, chat with who can help you and seek help!
