The little girl nearly died after a relative kissed her on the mouth, her mother says

The girl, who was 1 year old at the time, had to be hospitalized because her body was covered in rashes. Understand what happened

Kissing a child on the mouth is a practice not recommended by experts, even if it is a demonstration of affection. And one English family experienced first-hand how risky this could be: Kaylah, the daughter of Brogan Thomas and Connor Merritt, almost died after a relative kissed her on the mouth. The case dates back to a few years ago, but has come back to light after a new publication on Mirror – and it’s always worth warning!

In an interview with Vehicle, the mother said the choking began when the little girl, who was 1 year old at the time, started crying a lot. “I knew it could only mean she was in pain,” she commented. While placing the baby in her bath, the woman noticed small balls on her daughter’s leg. “It was a terrible nightmare, there were purple rashes everywhere“he recalled.

At first, the parents thought it might be something related to meningitis, as Kaylah had already had the disease. In the hospital, however, the surprise arrived. Doctors said someone with cold sores must have kissed the little girl’s mouth.. Because the child’s immune system is not strong enough, he developed skin irritation. “When I found out how dangerous it was, I cried a lot thinking that I could lose my daughter because of a ‘stupid’ kiss,” said Brogan, recalling that, according to experts, the little girl risked dying if she wasn’t taken away in time for emergency treatment.

The diagnosis

At the hospital, Kaylah was diagnosed eczema herpeticus, infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (children suffering from atopic dermatitis, it should be underlined, are predisposed to developing the disease). The girl spent four days in hospital, treated with antibiotics and other drugs.

To the MirrorBrogan said she and her partner’s wish was to alert other parents to the you risk kissing children on the mouth. “You don’t have to be physically sick to hurt a child. You can just bring a virus and affect it,” she added.
