Find out how to use your pressure cooker safely and avoid explosions
The good news is that you can prevent this from happening by taking some safety measures. Find out what precautions you should take when using your pressure cooker at home. The suggestions come from Royal Prestige:
Safety measures for using the pressure cooker
– Follow the instruction manual: sometimes the pan can cause problems because the person who used it did not follow the safety measures recommended in the manual. There it is explained, for example, that it is not safe to try to force the pan open while it is still under pressure;
– Check the gasket and the safety valve: many pressure cooker problems are linked to a gasket in poor condition or a blocked valve. Therefore, always check these two pan devices before use;
– Pay attention to the maximum capacity: the pressure cooker has a maximum capacity for liquids and foods. Ignoring this can result in there being very little room for the vapor to expand internally.
Also always pay attention to any strange marks that the pan gives. It’s not a good idea to leave her alone for a long time, because you might not notice if she starts making noise.
Safer models
In addition to these precautions, it is important to know that there are safer alternatives to classic pressure cookers. Electric pressure cookers, for example, do not “pick up pressure” if the lid is not closed properly.
They also turn off after the estimated time, thus avoiding forgetfulness. Newer (but still classic) pressure cooker models are equipped with internal devices, such as locks, that make the utensil safer to use.
