And it is also accredited by Wellness for cancer as one of the most comprehensive post-cancer treatment centers in the spa area – that’s because the center is much more than just a weight loss spa.
“Better health, more life” is the mission of Kurotel, which always works to offer new treatments for different customer goals: weight loss, relaxation, detoxification, immunity improvement, post-covid strengthening, etc.
I went to spend 1 week in a hotel trying the Kur Method.
HISTORY OF WELLNESS

Founded by the couple Doctor Luis Carlos AND Neusa Silveira in the 1970s the place became one of the most renowned addresses in the world for those seeking health, quality of life, longevity and well-being — d r. Luís Carlos Silveira won the Lide Saúde award in recognition of his pioneering work in preventive medicine in Brazil.
The Method unites fundamental pillars so that clients can achieve their health goals, combining the best of technology with a humanized approach. “Our personalized treatments delivered by our highly trained and passionate team are focused on the individual. We thank everyone who trusts Kur as a destination for healthcare and wellness”complements Dr. Mariela Silverira, Medical director of Kurotel and second generation of the medical spa.
MY WEEK ON THE KUR METHOD

During my seven days in the hotel I underwent not only treatments such as massage and nutritionist, but also a psychologist, personal trainer, doctor, physiotherapist and super technological imaging tests. All with the aim of having better health and well-being, applied not only in the hotel but also in life.
Nursing triage
The first step is a consultation with the nurse Natalia Gomes Ribeiro. The goal is not only to measure blood pressure and record weight and measurements, but also to know which doctors you should consult depending on your health condition.
Once this is determined, hotel professionals work to create a program tailored to your needs. In it, in addition to using the hotel’s services, you will have access to appointment times, exams and treatments but also some suggested activities to promote well-being, including fitness lessons, walks and routes in the area, cooking classes and musical performances at night, which take place in the hotel rooms and included, during my stay, an Italian song, a piano performance, classical music and more.
Consultation with a psychologist
A health-focused medical spa cannot only address physical health, and the Kur Method understands this.
Of course, psychological counseling is not effective if done only once, but the goal of this counseling is to understand what your goals are with the program and what is stopping you from achieving them.
In my case, for example, the Doctor Francisco da Costa He gave me tips to adjust my schedule. A big problem I have is with bowel movement and my lack of routine affects this, as you explained. “The body works through hormones, and hormones are released based on the signals the body receives. Just like with sleep, the circadian rhythm also influences the messengers that reach your gut. Having clear times for waking up, sleeping and eating leaves your digestive system more regulated.”
Medical examination
Dr. Daniele dos Santos He took care of me and immediately tried to understand what my health problems were. Constipation, as he explained to me, is multifactorial: he has to do with nutrition, yes, but also with stress, lifestyle and even genetics.

Together with the doctor’s analysis, a complete imaging examination is also carried out, in which a cutting-edge machine (and more effective than the bioimpedance machine) showed me exactly the body composition (percentage of fat x lean mass) of each of the zone my body.
From there, we were able to create plans to possibly modify this composition, maintain it, or simply optimize it.
Consultation with a physiotherapist
Once again my lazy intestines came into play. The physiotherapist Dr. Alex de Souza He even massaged my vertebrae one by one before I started to complain and sure enough: the fourth vertebra, where I felt pain when he touched me, is precisely the one that sends neurotransmitters to the intestine – and the pain shows that this area of the my body is inflamed.
“Some people have a genetically sluggish gut, but some massage, like osteopathy, helps move the organ,” he told me.
Consultation with a nutritionist
In the Kur Method nutrition is taken very seriously, because Food is one of the most important pillars (more on this later).
At the consultation with the nutritionist Michelle Mileto Troitinhowill adapt the Kurotel menu to your needs, as well as providing you with a meal plan, to follow even when you leave the hotel.
The idea here is not only to minimize existing medical conditions but also to avoid future problems. Like Dr. Mariela Silveira, who is also a nutritionist: “Western medicine is very focused only on treating when a problem arises and not on preventing it from appearing. The Kur Method focuses on ‘lifestyle medicine’, which aims to apply a healthy diet and routine into daily life, dramatically reducing the risk of disease.”
Personalized guide to physical education
Luciano Sanseverino, physical education teacher, is the one who coordinates this area and tries to understand the objectives and limitations of each guest. In addition to the professionally guided weight room, Kur Method participants are also invited to participate in activities such as dance classes, yoga classes, swimming lessons and more.
In other words, if you’re afraid of taking a week away from the gym to enjoy Kurotel, fear not: the space has cutting-edge equipment, targeted classes and qualified professionals to keep you active, another pillar of the Method.
Water circuit
One of the treatments of the Kur Method known throughout the world is the Water Circuit.
“The benefit of water for the body is scientifically proven, both on an internal level, by ingesting more liquids, and on an external level, by receiving cycles of water in the body that contribute to vasodilation and blood circulation and, consequently, oxygen “, explains Dr. Mariela.

In the Circuito das Águas, 5 proposals are made with the liquid: the first is a swimming pool, in which you spend a few minutes and are instructed to walk against the current (stimulating circulation in the legs), pass under a jet of water (stimulating circulation in the shoulders and neck) and sitting with your back to the jet (stimulating circulation in the lumbar area).
Then a bath with hydrating salts, followed by exposure to ice, another bath with black clay and then a shower with thermal water.
The feeling of well-being that follows leaves you with a much lighter head and radiant skin.
Other treatments
The SPA treatments are defined from person to person, just like the rest of the program, but during my stay I was able to enjoy 3 massages, a guided mediation to teach me how to induce sleep (something I struggle with a lot) and a lymphatic drainage – And who doesn’t love to be pampered from time to time?

Nutrition in the Kur Method
If you’re already trying to have a healthy, balanced lifestyle, with plenty of room for leisure and physical activities, perhaps what will feel most different about your routine is your diet.
The focus is on smaller but accurate portions, with all the nutritional groups – fiber, protein, carbohydrates and good fats – in each meal and with less salt – seasonings and herbs, desired by the guest, make the place more welcoming. of salt.
The food is delicious and all meals consist of 3 courses: starter, main course and dessert, the latter very light and sugar-free.
At first I was surprised by the portion sizes, which are smaller than I’m used to. The first day I thought I would be hungry even after eating but I soon saw that in fact the portions were ideal for me. What actually happens is that in “real life” I tend to overindulge in portions not out of hunger, but out of habit.
After following the Method, I learned to respect my body more, the signals it gives me and my schedule: my intestine is not yet 100% stabilized but, with the food plan and the supplements provided to me by the professionals, I have already noticed a big difference (a difference that will reach its maximum only after about 2 months, the time in which my microbiota renews itself, as the doctors told me).
More than a weight loss plan, the Kur Method showed me a new lifestyle focused on wellness and that it is possible to pay attention to ourselves without making drastic changes to our routine. Now it’s just a matter of putting it into practice in “real life” – and so far I’m succeeding!
