An Italian man had a testicle displaced in his abdomen after a motorbike accident. The case was published in the medical journal BMJ case reports in September this year and published by the portal Daily email.
The man’s right testicle was forced from its usual position in the scrotum through a small passage in the groin and abdomen. The victim’s exact age was not disclosed, only that he was around 20 years old.
According to the publication, the man was admitted to the emergency room with excruciating pain.
In an operation that lasted about an hour and a half, doctors surgically repositioned the testicle. A surgery called orchidopexy was performed, which is also used in children when the testicle does not drop completely early in its development, a common birth defect.
Six months after surgery, the patient was back to normal, with no permanent damage to fertility, hormone production or sperm.
