The young man says he has scoliosis which takes away a few centimetres
Doctor, I’m 16 years old and I’m about 1.72m. I might have had a few extra inches if it weren’t for the scoliosis. It’s not very serious, but it takes away a few centimeters. Can I get to around 1.78? My father is 1.62 and my mother is 1.63.
His father and mother are basically the same height, around 1.63m if we round up. An approximation we make for boys is about 10cm taller than the average height of their parents. So, in theory, with this count you are already close to your limit.
At 16 you may have reached your maximum height standard. To be sure, you need to consult your doctor. Your pediatrician has a growth chart that can more accurately determine your final height, but I imagine that you may not be able to reach 1.78 and should remain at the height you are today.
