So how many exercises should I do for each muscle?

Answer

“There is no ‘ready-made recipe’ for the ideal amount of exercises, sets and repetitions for each muscle. Everything will depend on the goal and needs. No overuse of loads, no excess of exercises or hours and hours in the gym. Make your conscious and effective training”, states l personal trainer Fernando Dragão.

The ideal is preparation, that is, the supervision of a serious professional will provide you with the correct training. “A good coach will identify the need and level of training. Furthermore, he will prepare an effective training, without abuse and without exaggeration”, adds Fernando.

Don’t you train with personal trainers and don’t know exactly what to do?

There is an answer for this type of situation. Several experts recommend 15 to 18 sets of large muscles and 9 to 12 sets of small muscles as an effective way to train large muscles.

“It is not necessary to follow this rule: three sets per exercise. So to get to 18 sets I have to do six exercises. It is not necessary to follow it exactly. You can select three or four exercises that meet your needs and goals and do four to six sets in each one”, he underlines.

How many repetitions should I do?

“There is no absolute rule. Do 10 to 15 repetitions depending on your technique and training goal. Below 10 repetitions the load is high, above 15 the load is low. Remember, it all depends on your goal” , he concludes.
