Regular yoga practice can strengthen men’s health very significantly, says naturopath and yoga teacher Ravi Kaiut
Blue November is an international campaign that aims to raise public awareness of the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of prostate cancer. Blue was chosen as the symbol of the campaign, representing men’s health. The campaign focuses on breaking health-related taboos and stigmas by encouraging men to undergo regular exams.
Prostate cancer is a serious problem today. According to the National Cancer Institute (Inca), in Brazil every 38 minutes a man dies from the disease. Therefore, it is essential that regular examinations are carried out and that parallel techniques are used to improve health and quality of life, such as yoga.
According to a study carried out by a team of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and published in the scientific journal “International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics”, the regular practice of yoga during radiotherapy treatments for prostate cancer improves fatigue and urinary and sexual dysfunction of patients.
Yoga and men’s health
According to yoga teacher and naturopath Ravi Kaiut, practicing yoga can also help strengthen many other aspects of men’s health.
“Yoga offers numerous benefits that can contribute significantly to men’s health, such as improved flexibility, greater freedom of movement of joints and muscles, essential for avoiding injuries and keeping the body agile”explains the expert.
“Another benefit of yoga is also the improvement of sexual performance, since by strengthening the pelvic floor, increasing blood circulation and muscle strengthening, regular practice contributes to a more satisfying sexual life. In addition, yoga is effective in reducing stress , enabling men to handle daily pressures with more emotional balance and focus”concludes Ravi Kaiut.
