A national passion and an object coveted by many, in Germany the car also goes well with… museums.

In a country where the capital Berlin alone has more than 600 kilometers of cycle paths and public transport has an integrated system that borders on perfection, it is almost a contradiction that the German industry produced 338 thousand vehicles last October, with a growth by 19% compared to the same month last year, according to the VDA (German Automotive Industry Association).

There is so much passion for cars that even the entertainment sector pays homage to the subject, in museums with elaborate settings such as the BMW one, in Munich, in the south-east of Germany.

BMW Museum

Divided into seven main thematic areas, this Bavarian museum chronicles the company’s more than 90 years in rooms dedicated to topics such as design, technology, sports models and the history of the company with interactive panels.

The attraction is located in an area of 4 thousand m² and hosts mechanical parts and more than 120 motorcycles and cars, such as the Isetta Motocoupé models, the ‘Bubble Car’, one of the most unusual in the history of motorsport, and the Z8 used in film “007 – The world is not enough”, 1995 production.

With a permanent exhibition in the style of a futuristic art gallery, the museum stands out for its industry-like environments with 17 customized cars by artists such as Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol, who painted a BMW M1 in just 28 minutes, on display in the BMW Art Car Room Collection.

It is worth remembering that the collection displayed to the public may change without notice.

Another strong point is the bowl-shaped building where the attraction is located, in front of the “Quatro Cilindros” structure, the administrative headquarters of the company and artistic heritage of Monaco.
