Remember to always respect your limit in every session

Wellness exercise, i.e. running, helps release endorphins, which are known to minimize stress and increase pleasure. So, usually, it is the first option for those who struggle with a sedentary lifestyle and, at the same time, there are those who still ask questions, for example: is it dangerous to run 5 km every day?

The answer to running 5km every day

“There is no predefined distance that is ideal or harmful to health. Some people can do 5 km in 1 hour and others who are better trained can do the same distance in a much shorter time. What differentiates is the level of physical preparation and everyone’s goal”, Daniela Agostinho, professor of the stress cardiology unit of the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, responded in an exclusive interview with Sport Life.

In this way Daniela outlined as a parameter the profile of an athlete with another who tries to maintain an active physical life. This is where the need for assessment comes into play to ensure satisfactory training.

“For those seeking health through exercise, a minimum of 150 minutes per week of moderate physical activity or even 75 minutes of more intense activity is recommended. This time can be divided into the days of the week according to each individual’s availability and intensity of the race will vary depending on each person”, reinforced the professional.

How long is it worth increasing distance after running training?

“This is individual. It depends on the goal or type of race. Once a person feels comfortable at that distance and intensity, they can set other goals for their training,” he said.

The need to rest to run 5km without problems

Another criterion that depends on the pace of the runner. “For less intense, lower volume workouts, it is essential to maintain one rest day per week. For athletes practicing higher volumes and intensities, training should be interspersed with rest or regenerative training,” he explained.

Is it better to run on flat or uneven terrain?

“The ideal is to run on flat ground to recover your physical fitness more quickly when starting a running program, but it is not contraindicated to train on uneven terrain. Typically, these irregularities cause a greater training intensity, i.e. training becomes more intense. difficult”, concluded Daniela Agostinho.
