Fasten your seatbelts because the pilot will do another spin maneuver.
On December 7, ‘The Hijacking of Flight 375’ will be released in cinemas, a national production that tells the true story of the unemployed Raimundo Nonato Alves da Conceição (Jorge Paz).
In 1988, this man from Maranhão rebelled against the then president of Brazil, José Sarney, and orchestrated the hijacking of a commercial flight for an attack on the Palácio do Planalto.
The pilot of the Boeing 737-317, Murilo (Danilo Grangheia), was flying on the Porto Velho-Rio de Janeiro route, when the passenger announced the diversion, in the Belo Horizonte – Galeão section, ordering the pilots to divert the route towards Brasilia, for crash the plane into the Palácio do Planalto.
The film, directed by Marcus Baldini and co-produced by Star Original Productions, was recorded at the iconic Vera Cruz studio, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP) and featured a solid filming structure, such as the reconstruction of the Vasp plane involved in the episode the kidnapping which, years later, would become a sort of Brazilian September 11th.

COMMANDER MURILO
(DANILO GRANGHIA)
A former member of the Squadrilha da Fumaça, this commercial pilot was passionate about aviation and aerial maneuvers. Adventurous and with a strong leadership spirit, it was he who carried out, almost without fuel on the plane and near Goiânia airport, the spiral maneuver to unbalance the hijacker.
The actor and director Danilo Grangheia has participated in productions such as ‘Waiting for Godot’ (2021) and ‘Hebe’ (2019).

RAIMUNDO NONATO
(JORGE PAZ)
From a humble family, this unemployed tractor driver who has difficulty supporting his family decides to kill President José Sarney, who he considers responsible for Brazilian hyperinflation, to save the country.
The Ceará actor from Sobral has participated in hits such as ‘Marighella’ (2019) and ‘Cangaço Novo’ (2023).

LUZIA
(ROBERTA GUALDA)
She is the flight operator of Cindacta (Centro Brasilia), where she has stood out as one of the most efficient employees in the workplace. As a woman and a civilian, she struggles to have a voice and through her intelligence and perception manages to achieve her goals.
Actress Roberta Gualda’s most recent work was in the soap operas “Amor de Mãe” (2022) and “Vai na Fé” (2023) and in the series “O Rei da TV” (2022).

EVANGELIST
(CESARE MELLO)
Vangelis, as he was also known, was the co-pilot chosen to fly VASP 375 together with Commander Murilo, his long-time friend.
The co-pilot was killed by the .32 caliber revolver, when the hijacker shot him, after Evangelista attempted to contact air traffic control.
The actor Cesar Mello is from São Paulo, Carapicuíba, and starred in the soap opera “Viver a Vida” (2009) and in the film “Doutor Gama” (2021), in which he played Luiz Gama.

CLAUDIA
(JULIANA ALVES)
It is the lead flight attendant of VASP Flight 375 who takes control of the plane’s cabin while the hijacking takes place in cockpit.
Juliana, who was once a dancer from Domingão do Faustão, participated in soap operas such as “Chocolate com Pimenta” (2003), “Caminho das Indias” (2009) and “Salve-se Quem Puder” (2021).

The film ‘The Hijacking of Flight 375’ also stars Adriano Garib, who plays Brigadier Bastos, willing to shoot down the hijacked plane to “maintain order”; Claudio Jaborandy (Sobral Quintanilha, Prime Minister of Civil Housing); and Gabriel Gody, who serves as the federal police delegate responsible for the rescue operation of VASP Flight 375.
