The Ponto Firme Project, led by designer Gustavo Silvestre, with former inmates of the prison system and students in situations of social vulnerability, exhibited this morning Saturday (9), in the mezzanine of the Copan Building, in the Center of São Paulo, a parade of creations crochet and recycled materials, in collaboration with the Swiss designer Kevin Germanier.
The presentation with 20 looks was inspired by parties and holidays on the coast and brought sequins, textile waste and sustainable fabrics from the Kevin Germanier collection, as well as threads from the brand Círculo, partner of the Ponto Firme project. The result came through dresses and other pieces with lots of shine, color and skin on display. Metals in various shades, from beige and brown, to gold, silver and colorful, decorated the collection, with a lot of movement.

The sequins were available in various laser-cut formats, exclusive and designed in-house at Ateliê Ponto Firme, as well as other sustainable sequins developed 100% by hand, from plastic waste. Both Gustavo and Kevin work with sustainability in their creations. The Swiss has already worn names such as Lady Gaga, Björk, Taylor Swift and Sabrina Sato. And this is the third partnership signed by the two designers. Two of them were presented at Paris Fashion Week. And this is the first presented in Brazil.

“It’s really impressive how we have a great harmony of ideas, how we share sustainable and social values and the design concept with the crochet which create unique movements, textures and weavings,” commented Silvestre in the promotional material.

“A key point of the Germanier brand is innovation. We push the limits of upcycling with new materials, new shapes, new mixed colors. This is the synergy we have and the work that Gustavo develops goes far beyond design,” he said the Swiss designer, who was unable to come to Brazil for the presentation.

The show has the support of SPFW, but due to the brand’s schedule, the collection was not presented at Sao Paulo Fashion Week, which took place in November. Projeto Ponto Firme just presented the collaboration at Paris Fashion Week with Germanier and also competed at the Latin American Fashion Awards, in the Responsibility Project of the Year category, held in Punta Cana. The events took place very close together, so it took more time to develop the collection with new and exclusive pieces presented in São Paulo.
