After coming in first place with picanha voted “best dish in the world”, Brazil sought to break into the top 100 of the world’s most iconic restaurants.
The Palace steakhouse, in Copacabana, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, appears in 69th place and the Yemanjá restaurant, in Salvador, Bahia, occupies 99th place.
The traditional Rio steakhouse, considered a cultural heritage of the city, was opened in 1951 and was initially called Leme and was located at another address. In 1979 it was renamed Palazzo Churrascaria and in 1985 it adopted the rotation system.
The current menu highlights cuts like butterfly picanha, ancho steak, short rib and chorizo. The meat tasting buffet costs R$225 and R$112.50 for children aged 6 to 12.
The Yemanjá restaurant has 50 years of tradition and serves typical Bahian cuisine: abará with vatapá and shrimp, rice with shrimp, acarajé with vatapá and shrimp and fish moqueca with dendê farofa are some of them.
The Taste Atlas site, of Croatian origin, is collaborative and users from all over the world can rate cuisines and recipes.
