The musician and former Domino Alfonso Nigro revealed this Monday, 18, that he was battling cancer and more had surgery to remove a right kidney tumor. Nigro addressed the situation in secret, without the public’s knowledge, and wanted to thank those who supported him during the trial.
In a video published on social media he appears, still lying on a stretcher, explaining why he kept the secret. “I didn’t want this to cause distress or emotional imbalance,” he said.
Still commenting on the topic, he underlined the presence of three ‘guardian angels’ who helped him discover the disease and, according to him, ‘saved his life’.
“I was going to my little brother Rodrigo Faro’s house to record a new song he wanted to put on social media. We got to the topic of getting a checkup after turning 40. He turned to me and said, ‘You you do right? I do it all year round.’ I said, ‘I’ve never done it.'”
After the conversation, Faro made an appointment for him the next day with his cardiologist, Leandro Chenique, who found the tumor in his right kidney and referred him to urologist Fernando Korkes, who performed the removal surgery in the morning .
“I’m already firm and ready for another one. As Rodrigo would say, from now on I have two birthdays: the 18th and the 28th,” he said emotionally. In the caption he wrote: “When guardian angels enter your life, you thank, thank you, thank you.”
In the comments, Rodrigo did not hold back in showing his affection. “God has saved you, my brother. I got emotional talking to you today. I see you healed and full of life. Looks like I’ll have to put up with you for another 50 years!!!! I love you Afonsão!!!!”, he wrote.
Afonso’s wife also celebrated his recovery. “Love of my life! The greatest joy to have you back here, having arrived healed from the surgery that took away something from your body that didn’t belong to you. Congratulations on your second birthday – 12/18/2023! I love you infinitely and will always be by your side!”, he commented.
