With the holiday routine and little time for self-care, skin health can get put on the back burner. Here are some tips to avoid problems
The end of year holidays are one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year. However, they can cause skin care to be neglected, causing it to lose its shine and facilitating the appearance of expression lines and acne.
According to Dr. Nicolly Machado, postgraduate doctor of dermatology, the skin needs attention and care during the holiday season to avoid problems such as acne and fine lines. This is because the holidays bring with them a series of risk factors.
“Both because we leave treatments aside, and because it is generally punctuated by ‘diet breaks’, use of a lot of make-up, drinking and sleepless nights, such as on New Year’s Eve, which affect the health and quality of the skin”, warns the specialist.
5 tips for taking care of your skin during the holidays
With this in mind, Nicolly gives some advice for maintaining skin care even during parties and get-togethers. Watch:
1 β Don’t forget about skin care
“During the New Year holidays, maintain your skincare routine. Wash your face regularly to eliminate impurities, use products suitable for your skin type and, also, don’t forget about hydration to preserve vitality and luminosity,” he advises Nicolly.
2 β Avoid excesses in food and drink
“You shouldn’t give up abundant dinners, just control your intake of foods rich in sugar and salt, opting for balanced meals. Drink water to maintain hydration and limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages, as they dehydrate the skin”, says the dermatologist .
3 β Don’t sleep with your makeup on
βAt the end of the celebrations, completely remove your makeup to avoid clogging your pores, allow your skin to breathe, and avoid possible irritation or inflammation that could cause acne,β emphasizes Dr. Nicolly Machado.
4 β Use sunscreen and moisturizer
“With high temperatures, it is important to apply a sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from UV rays. Keep it hydrated with a cream suited to your skin type to preserve its health and elasticity,” says the professional.
5 β Sleep well
“Staying awake at night is harmful to skin health and general health, so adequate sleep is essential. Rest well to allow cell regeneration, promote skin renewal and avoid a tired appearance after the end of year holidays “, advises the doctor.
