Between 2019 and 2022, child labor grew by 7% in Brazil. There are 1.9 million Brazilians in this situation, 66% of whom are black and brown and 65% male.
Work is prohibited for children under 13 years of age and is only permitted as a young apprentice between 14 and 15 years of age. But the reality is that we have countless examples of children aged five and under working, with 32% working forty hours or more per week.
