Each country has its own way of celebrating the arrival of the new year. There are those who skip seven waves, those who eat grapes at the twelfth bell before New Year’s Eve and there are even those who keep pomegranate seeds in their wallet or don’t give up lentils for dinner on December 31st.
But nothing can replace the tradition of fireworks to celebrate the new year.
In this post, the guided tour company Civitatis has selected 10 of the most incredible New Year’s Eve fireworks displays around the world.

10. Hong Kong (China)
In this autonomous Chinese territory, every day feels like New Year’s Eve.
The destination is known for multimedia entertainment Symphony of lights (“Symphony of Lights”, in Portuguese) which takes place every day in more than 40 buildings, around Victoria Harbour.
So it’s no wonder that fireworks are one of the most amazing shows of the New Year. Furthermore, China is also the country where fireworks were invented.

9. Koh Phangan (Thailand)
Known to be busy Full Moon Festival (“Full Moon Party,” in Portuguese), Koh Pha Ngan, an island in southeastern Thailand, is the ideal destination for a fun evening on Sunset Beach.
Interestingly, although Christmas is not celebrated in the country, according to Christian tradition, the region has joined the New Year celebrations due to the large number of tourists wanting a different experience.

The French capital could not be missing from this list of addresses to celebrate the arrival of the new year.

The busy and tireless city becomes even more special as the new year arrives.
It is during this time that people come out in costume to the streets, to the party on Fremont Street, and the fireworks are displayed with more than 80,000 rockets launched from seven different points in the city.

Famous for its ancient tradition of fireworks, this Spanish city is home to the Fallas com mascletà, which consists of fireworks and firecrackers being launched into the sky.

1. Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

At the top of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world at 828 meters high, there is a show of lights and fireworks that illuminates the entire city. You don’t have to pay to watch the show, but you do have to watch it on a first-come, first-serve basis.
There is also the option to view the fireworks from the Burj Khalifa restaurant itself, the experience of which costs 1700 AED (approximately R$2,246).
