Former footballer, Zagallo died at the age of 92


Zagallo, player, coach and assistant of the Brazilian national team, four times world champion, died on January 5

The former footballer, coach and assistant of the Brazilian national team died last Friday 5 January Zagallo, 92, who held the record for the most FIFA World Cup titles overall. The cause of the athlete’s death was not disclosed either by consultants or by the player’s family.




Four months ago, Zagallo’s family shared a video in which the star appears entering his home, in a wheelchair. He will have just cured a urinary infection and will finally be back home.

Also on social media, in the early hours of this Saturday, the player’s family published an iconic black and white photograph of Zagallo, in which the player appears in a suit and tie holding two World Cups in his hands. The image was shared to accompany the condolence note.

A devoted father, a loving grandfather, a loving father-in-law, a faithful friend, a successful professional and a great human being. Mario Jorge Lobo Zagallo, known throughout the world by his surname, was present in four of the five world titles won by the Brazilian team. He won the cup as a player in 1958 and 1962, as a coach in 1970 and in 1994 as technical coordinator, for a total of four maximum career awards. Rest in peace Zagallo!
