A Spanish taxi driver has gone viral on social media after sharing a story involving a good deed for a stranger. In a post seen by more than 720,000 people, Jesule Fernández claims to have helped a passenger recover 600 euros (R$3,200, in current conversion), forgotten in her car. Eventually, the driver caught the woman’s reaction, and she gratefully rewarded him for the gesture.
In the video the Spaniard, who works as a taxi driver in Barcelona, says he picked up the woman at the airport and dropped her off at her destination. However, only after Jesule got out of the taxi did she realize that the passenger had forgotten her wallet with the documents and the amount of cash.
So the taxi driver set out on a mission to find the passenger and return her belongings. Along the way, Jesule says he didn’t register the case to get attention, but to raise public awareness. “I could keep the money, but it would ruin this woman’s life.”
At the end of the video, Jesule recorded the moment she returns the passenger’s belongings and she thanks him for the gesture of goodwill. “I thought I was going to die,” joked the woman, who rewarded the taxi driver with part of the sum recovered.
In the comments on Jesule’s post, Internet users celebrate the taxi driver’s success and share stories of good deeds. “I once returned a $39,000 gold watch, it was fine,” one user said. “If the country had more people like you, it would definitely be better,” another follower said.
