An American journalist visits a Brazilian steakhouse and is surprised by the abundance

In a critical text for the newspaper, a professional highlights the high price and the noisiness of the place

The American journalist Terri Peters was for the first time in a Brazilian steakhouse that adopts the meat rotation system and recounted her experience in a text published this week in the Business Insider newspaper.

“In a noisy room, among crying children and families who had just left Orlando amusement parks, we felt a little overwhelmed,” says Peters, who was at the Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chão, which has locations in the United States .

Recently, Brazilian picanha was voted “best dish in the world” in a ranking drawn up by Taste Atlas, considered the encyclopedia of gastronomy.

“The waiters seemed to feel the same way: regardless of whether the paper was red or green, they kept bringing meat to our table and trying to put cuts on our plates,” Terri added.

Even the professional seems to have been surprised by the abundance of the place. “No matter what we did, the meat kept coming,” he said.

Despite criticism for the noise and movement, he approved of the food: “All the meat we tasted was very good. Our favorite was the tender, moist filet mignon. But there was also delicious bacon-wrapped chicken, sausage of pork, lamb and various cuts of beef”.

Peters pointed out the countless options at the all-you-can-eat buffet, which includes feijoada, cheese bread, fried bananas and polenta, and complained about the queues to be served, which discouraged her from going there.

“Everything I put on my plate was delicious, but I only made one trip. Waiting in long lines to get to crowded salad bars didn’t give the relaxed Friday night dinner vibe I was hoping for,” she said.

The bill for the journalist, her husband and her daughter cost 230 dollars, or approximately R$1,132. “Which is pretty expensive for a network,” she assessed. They opted for the adult menu which costs US$63.50 per person (R$312.46 each).

“I probably wouldn’t go back to the restaurant, but I think it’s a great option for those who like buffets, have a bigger appetite than me, and don’t mind a livelier, more challenging experience,” he concluded, adding that the dinner a Friday night with the restaurant so busy contributed to the negative points.
