Tourists find a hidden camera in the resort of Porto de Galinhas

The device was camouflaged in a false socket; Daily hotel stays cost around R$540

A couple of tourists found a hidden camera in a room at the OKA Beach Residence resort, on Muro Alto beach, in Porto de Galinhas. The couple was on holiday and stayed there between January 13 and 17.

A video published on social media shows where the camera was hidden, under the television, in a false socket. One day before leaving, the victim found the device after hearing noises and, when attempting to use the socket, she was unable to insert the charger into the sockets.

She reported the problem to her husband and they both realized it was a camera. The resort’s management denied knowledge of the object and offered customers to spend the night in another room, but the couple preferred to simply place a piece of paper in front of the device.

Now the case is being investigated by the Civil Police as an “unauthorized recording of sexual intimacy”. According to what the couple’s lawyer told g1, the couple does not yet know what the contents of the camera are.

The complaint was formalized at the 43rd district police station, in Porto de Galinhas, in the evening of the same day. Roque Henrique Campos also specified that the victims intend to sue the resort administrator and the platform through which they booked the accommodation, Booking.

“The responsibility, in this case, lies with the administration, which should have carried out all the analyzes of the room – check-in, before entering the apartment; and with Booking itself, the responsible platform, which carried out the registration and offered security that doesn’t exist,” the lawyer said. A night at OKA Beach Residence costs around R$540.
