Hit in SP: Is Tem Umami Ice Cream Worth the Feed?

The “Paladar” journalist went to the Copan ice cream shop to take the test

How about combining hunger with the desire to eat and stopping at the Copan building, one of the city’s postcards, for a gastronomic tour? There you will find bars like Dona Onça and Paloma, dedicated to wines, restaurants like Cuia Café, located inside the Mega Fauna bookstore, among other options. This time our destination was Tem Umami ice cream shop, which opened its doors less than a year ago and is trending on social media.

Their specialty is soft ice cream, handmade, machine-made ice cream, as they proudly point out in the letters hanging on the wall of the ice cream shop: “it’s real ice cream, not hydrogenated fats with sugar”.

It is immediately clear why ice cream is so successful on the internet: the cone, which in the full version is always filled, is really worth eating with your eyes. But does the flavor really make the food worth it? This is what the journalist who spoke to you tried to verify.

Flavors vary daily, and the house usually announces which options are available on Instagram. On the day of Paladar’s visit there were two: pistachios and organic strawberries. And since pistachio is also on the rise (but, look, I was on team pistachio long before it became a fad), we gave it a shot.

In addition to the pistachio dough, which is delicious and has a delicate sweetness (which doesn’t make the dessert cloying), the full version of the ice cream (if you prefer you can order just the dough) arrived dipped in pistachio ganache and sprinkled with other pistachios on top. The shell that houses all this, made of organic corn flour, is crunchy and very tasty and makes the difference.

So, the good news is that Tem Umami ice cream is definitely worth it. It was simply not possible to register the Copan + cone combination because the building is unfortunately under renovation and partially covered.
