Anita concluded its pre-carnival on Sunday (4). There were 11 performances of “Anitta’s Rehearsals”, between January and February, passing through Salvador, Florianópolis, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Vitória, Curitiba and Sao Paulo. Their costumes paid homage to some samba schools.
She was inspired by Sabrina Sato as drum queen, carillon dancer, baroque art, Cordel literature… See the details in the photos below:
Anitta pays homage to Estácio de Sá

“In 2023, the Maranhão Bumba Meu Boi festival was the theme of the Estácio de Sá parade. This festival brings together thousands of people every year, who stage Brazilian folkloric narratives, with the playful figure of the ox as the central theme.
Among explosive colors, flowers, ribbons, sparkles and textures, the school parade celebrated the meeting between the pagan and the religious, in a rich portrait of the culture of the north-east of our country and of Brazil’s relationship with spirituality.” , he wrote Anita on your Instagram.
Governor’s Island Union
“In 2014, the theme of the carnival was ‘It’s a toy, it’s a joke. The island will raise dust!’. The idea was to play with our childhood memories, bringing the lightness and dreaminess characteristic of that period One of the allegories of the parade was a music box dancer, an image that inspires my imagination today!”
Anitta’s tribute to Unidos do Viradouro
“In 2022, the first year of revelry after the Covid 19 pandemic, the school took to the streets a storyline about the first carnival after the Spanish flu pandemic, in 1919.
The School summoned the Lord of Healing to cover everyone with his straws! And so that your xaxará takes away, once and for all, all evils. The only possible contagion? Love.
It was a true declaration of love for the carnival made through the passionate letter of a pierrot. My imagination is inspired by the soul of this traditionally sad character, who finds joy in declaring his love for him, in the carnival itself.”
Nilópolis Hummingbird
“In 2016, Beija-Flor told the story of an illustrious native of Minas Gerais, born in 1793, after whom the famous samba avenue takes its name: Cândido José de Araújo Viana, the Marquis of Sapucaí!
My look today is inspired by all the richness of the nobles of the time and the magnificent baroque art, while also celebrating the culture and history of the state of Minas Gerais.”
Gaviões da Fiel in Anitta’s trials
“In 2013, the association presented the theme ‘Being Loyal is the Soul of Business’, which spoke about the importance of advertising from colonial Brazil to the present times.
The parade was signed by the late Max Lopes, an award-winning carnival artist. One of the highlights of that year’s parade was the drum godmother, Sabrina Sato, who performed on behalf of the coffee baronesses. This is the inspiration for my costume today.”
Empress Leopoldinense

“My costume today is inspired by the winning storyline of Carnival 2023, which reflected the importance of Cordel literature, a traditional manifestation of Brazilian popular culture.
Imperatriz Leopoldinense, a school in Ramos, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, opened the pamphlets of the poets of the northeast, debating the post-death of Virgulino Ferreira da Silva, Lampião, and the duality recorded in the strings, which is still today delirious, fantasized and imagined.
With references to the work ‘The Arrival of Lampião to the sky’, by the cordelist Guaiapuan Vieira, my imagination brings the ‘flight towards the light’ of the cangaceiro, seen by many as a hero, as he fought the misery of his people and the oppression practiced by the colonels.”
Joyful youth
“Today I pay homage to a 56-year-old school, also known in São Paulo as the ‘Morada do Samba’ and which has 11 victories in the special group of São Paulo.
With its epic plots about African culture, last year the school presented the story of “Yasuke,” a black immigrant who became a respected samurai in Japan. The group conveyed the strength of a young black man who achieved his goals while living in an oppressive and prejudiced society.
“My samba is fight and voice, it speaks for all of us”, sang the school’s theme song, which reinforced the ideal of strength. Very deservedly, Mocidade won the 2023 Sao Paulo Carnival.”
Academics of Salgueiro
“In 2020, Acadêmicos do Salgueiro brought to the streets the art of Benjamin de Oliveira, Brazil’s first black clown.
In the parade, the Samba School of Tijuca, north of Rio de Janeiro, promoted a very important social reflection on education, art and culture in Brazil, through black representation and resistance.
The toy soldier costume represents the allied army of the Benjamins resisting in Brazil!”
Father Miguel’s Independent Youth
“The great inspiration is in the greatest symbol of the Association: The Five-Pointed Star.
I bring this tribute to strengthen the light of this School, which has become famous for having illuminated the Carnival with its avant-garde parades and for having in its history one of the greatest stars of our country: Elza Soares.”
Big river
“In 2022, Grande Rio was the champion of the Rio Carnival with the plot ‘Speak, Majeté! Seven keys of Exu’. A red avalanche, representing the vitality and guardian profile of the orixá. The school carried the message to the streets to fight religious racism against African sects.
Exú represents this mixture of good and evil, sin and holiness, joy and sadness, medicine and poison.”
Port from Pedra
“In 2023, the school brought the theme ‘La Jangada: 800 Leagues Through the Amazon’ to its parade. A theme that, in addition to showcasing the diversity, beauty and grandeur of our forest, signaled the urgent importance of conservation and recovery, as well as the protection of indigenous territories and rights. 69% of the Amazon forest is Brazilian. By keeping the Amazon alive, we fight global warming and climate change.”
